Fantasy/Science Fiction Book Project

By Monday, December 17th, all classes will have visited the library to check out a fantasy or science fiction novel. For a project grade, students are expected to read their book and convert it into a "graphic novel". Directions for the graphic novel book project can be found here. Students may use books from outside the school library, but please be reminded that all books must have an accompanying AR quiz. You can search ARbookfind.com to find out if a book has an AR quiz. Projects are due Thursday, January 17th.

Return from Maternity Leave

I will be returning from maternity leave on Monday, November 19th, and am excited to be back at Hill. I have high expectations for all my students and look forward to meeting them and seeing what they can achieve. The purpose of this website is to keep students and parents/guardians abreast of events and assignments for this class.

I appreciate all the work the other 6th grade teachers have done in my absence and will be working closely with them to make the upcoming transition as smooth as possible. If you have any questions or concerns for me, please feel free to reach out to me by email (jweinberg@rvaschools.net) or call the school (780-6107). I am looking forward to a productive year!

Welcome to Hill!

Welcome to sixth grade English at Albert Hill! As parents know and students will soon find out, middle school is a period of many changes - physical changes, emotional changes, and intellectual changes - and I look forward to working as a team to make this an easy transition. This website is for parents and students to stay connected to our classroom as we read, write, and learn together.

Use the headings on this blog to find information about who I am and how to reach me, the syllabus for this course, a calendar with important dates and deadlines, and a supply list.

I hope you're ready for an exciting year! I know I am.
